Soon after 1955, following the theatre's closure, this wall was erected to the
divide the building into two separate premises. The Trust managed to achieve the demolition late in 2001, a triumph for the Trust and fuelling hopes of the building's final restoration. The photograph shows the enormity of the stage - this was a serious theatre capable of hosting the most ambitious shows.
